You should never pay a recruitment agency in the UAE

Article 6(4) of the UAE Labour Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021) prohibits an employer from charging a worker recruitment costs or recovering them, directly or indirectly — agency fees, visa costs, the medical fitness test, Emirates ID and mandatory health insurance all sit with the employer. MOHRE attaches the same condition to recruitment licences, so a licensed agency charging you for placement, "processing", a CV package or a priority listing is in breach of it. The financial free zones, DIFC and ADGM, run their own employment regimes, but no reputable agency charges candidates anywhere in the Emirates. If it happens to you, stop, keep the messages, and report it to MOHRE on 600 590 000.

How it works

Four steps, and none of them involve a payment.

1. Build your profile

Twelve minutes in the candidate portal. Experience, salary expectation, visa status, notice period, and the roles you would actually move for.

2. We match, then call

When your profile fits a live brief, a consultant calls you before anything is sent anywhere. Your CV never goes to a client without your consent for that role.

3. You interview prepared

Who you are meeting, what the team is like, what they will probe, and what the package really looks like once allowances are counted.

4. Offer and onboarding

We negotiate on your behalf, check the MOHRE-registered offer matches your contract, and stay with you through visa and first month.

Practical advice

What a UAE-ready CV actually looks like.

Most CVs that fail here fail for structural reasons, not because the person was not good enough. Employment agency systems parse text, not design, and Gulf hiring managers look for a specific set of facts near the top.

  • Two pages, plain layout. No columns, no tables, no header graphics. Applicant tracking systems mangle all three.
  • Visa status stated plainly. Employment visa, spouse visa, visit visa, or overseas. It is the first question a recruiter has and hiding it wastes both your time and theirs.
  • Notice period, in the first four lines. Immediate, 30 days, 60 days. Gulf hiring runs on start dates.
  • Numbers, not adjectives. "Managed a team of 14 across three sites" beats "dynamic leader" every time.
  • Licences and certifications named exactly. DHA, MOH, DOH, CPA, ACCA, PMP, UAE driving licence. Recruiters search for these strings.
  • No photograph, no marital status, no passport number. Nothing that invites bias or exposes your identity documents.

Protect yourself

Seven signs a UAE job offer is not real.

Job scams in this market follow the same pattern in different costumes: get you to pay before anything is verified. Learn the mechanic and the disguise stops mattering.

1. Any request for payment

Registration, processing, visa deposit, "CV optimisation", priority listing. All illegal, all fraud. There are no exceptions to this one.

2. An offer with no interview

Nobody hires a stranger for a Gulf salary off a CV alone. A full offer arriving after one WhatsApp exchange is a lure.

3. A free-mail domain

Real recruiters write from a company domain. Gmail, Outlook or a lookalike domain registered last month is a tell.

4. Pressure and a deadline

"Confirm within 24 hours or we release the position." Urgency exists to stop you checking. Real employers wait.

5. No verifiable licence

Check the company on the National Economic Register and the agency's MOHRE permit. Both take two minutes and are free.

6. "Convert your visit visa later"

A legitimate employer arranges your work permit properly. Anyone telling you to fly in and sort it out afterwards is not one.

7. Documents requested too early

Passport scans and educational certificates come after a verified offer, not before a first conversation.

Where to report

MOHRE call centre on 600 590 000, or the MOHRE app. If money has changed hands, file a police report as well — the case number matters.

How to verify us

Ask for the consultant's name and extension, and call the number published on this site rather than one sent to you. We will never mind the check.

Job seeker questions

Straight answers

Is registering with Ambizent really free?

Yes, and it has to be. We are paid by the companies that hire, never by the people we place. Under Article 6(4) of the UAE Labour Law, recruitment costs cannot be charged to or recovered from a worker, and MOHRE applies the same condition to licensed agencies. There is no premium tier, no paid listing, and nothing to upgrade.

Can you get me a visa?

Not directly — your employer sponsors your work permit and residence visa, and pays for it. What we do is make sure the offer is properly registered with MOHRE, that the registered offer matches the contract you sign, and that the visa file keeps moving so your start date holds.

I am outside the UAE. Is it worth registering?

Yes, with realistic expectations. Employers often prefer candidates who can start quickly, so overseas applicants compete hardest at senior, scarce-skill and volume-project levels where employers expect to sponsor. Be precise about your notice period and your willingness to relocate, and be patient — entry permits, attestation and medicals add weeks.

How long until I hear something?

If your profile matches a live brief, within days. If it does not, you may not hear for weeks, and we would rather say that than pretend otherwise. Your profile stays active and is re-matched against every new mandate, so keeping your notice period and salary expectation current genuinely improves your odds.

Will my current employer find out I am looking?

No. Your profile is visible only to Ambizent consultants. Your CV goes to a client only after you approve that specific role, and you can name companies you do not want to be submitted to. If your current employer is one of our clients, we simply will not surface you to them.

What salary should I ask for?

Ask us. We see live offer data across sectors every week, and we will tell you honestly if your expectation is above or below where the market is clearing for your profile. Remember the UAE package is fixed salary plus housing, transport and other allowances — compare totals, not basics.
